Meadowview School Food Pantry
We have partnered with Meadowview School and Second Harvest Food Bank to help with the needs in the community. Each week volunteers help to stock the food pantry, distribute food, and minister into the needs of the families served. Volunteers are always needed.
The Transition Program stems from a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Challenge Academy, The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce, local churches and a host of other organizations. This program will offer an opportunity for recently graduated cadets from the WI National Guard Challenge Academy the opportunity to live, work and volunteer in the Sparta area. The goal is to assist the young adults in a time of transition working with them to achieve the ability to live independently and overall increase their resilience and their chances for success. We hope to expand the program beyond the Challenge Academy in the future.
Other partners in the program include; Great Rivers United Way, Department of Workforce Development, Monroe County Families First, Family & Children's Center, Couleecap, Monroe County Housing Authority, Referral Staffing Solutions, Northern Engraving, Century Foods International, Theisen's, Mathy Construction, Western Technical College, WisCorps, Pastor Jef Skinner with Gospel Baptist Church, Pastor Brian Young with Faith Evangelical Free Church and Maggie McHugh, Ph.D.
